Double Trouble Lovells are back
Kevin Lovell looks for 1st title
By Bob Burbach
Marysville CA - April 3, 2014... This observer learned today that local sprint car star, Yuba City ’s Kevin Lovell, will be back in the saddle for the full season of MRP Winged Sprint Car racing at Paul and Kathy Hawes’ Marysville Raceway Park . Former championship car owner Richard Lovell confirmed that for the first time in years Kevin Lovell has put together a team to run for the title. Active on and off for the last decade, a new focused and fit Kevin Lovell is now ready for a full season of action.

Twin brother Korey, also of Yuba City , is a 5-time champion of the division and Kevin has just missed the title on a couple of occasions. But, when Kevin did show up, he was a significant force to be reckoned with.

As the sport in general begins a strong recovery after the recession, more teams have been able to secure sponsorship and the familiar #81 team of Kevin Lovell is no exception. Brother Korey has remained in the hunt each year, but Kevin’s reemergence as a force at MRP makes the field just that much stronger. MRP is benefiting with new teams forming with some regularity.

Defending champion Grass Valley ’s Billy Wallace and former champions, Jeremy Burt also of Grass Valley , Mike Monahan of Sparks Nevada , Colby Wiesz of Colfax, Kelseyville’s Brent Dothage and brother Korey Lovell have a seasoned pro headed back to do battle with them. Kevin Lovell wants to become part of this select group of MRP champions.

The quality and caliber of the Marysville Raceway Park Winged Sprint Car field this season continues to grow. Stay tuned. As we know more, you’ll know more. See you Saturday at MRP!

The mighty MRP Winged Sprint Cars, the MRP Super Stocks, the MRP Wingless Sprint Cars, the MRP Mini Stocks and the Pro-4 Sprint Cars will all compete this Saturday night in an action packed 5 division show.

Gates open at 5. Hot laps at 6.00. Qualifying follows hot laps with racing action scheduled immediately after qualifying.
